This time, no exotic address. I take you with me in a Parisian restaurant with local products (I mean French) between Republic and Filles du Calvaire stations.
Bistrot du temple – French food
Taste of the meal On the menu, there is a little less than a dozen choices for each part of the meal that can possibly say that the products are fresh and that’s rather a good point! But this kind of menu can have its drawbacks: too many choices kills the choice, but less choice can also be complicated. Finally, with a table of five people there were 5 black chicken’s supreme from Challans (name of terroir!) with apricots which were served with a risotto with artichokes and peas. It was very good. I do not often eat artichoke and it was not bad at all. The mixture of flavors with apricots was pretty amazing.
For dessert, I chose the gourmet plate with the toast, chocolate mousse and ginger ice cream. I’m not a fan of ginger but eaten with the toast which was a little dry, it was perfect. The chocolate of the mousse was delicious and the mousse itself was very dense but it was also very good. Anyway, we ate well!
Settings The decoration of the restaurant is quite refined with fairly neutral colors, with contrasting black accents here and there.
Le service Without anything to reproach the gentleman who served us, we found him a little steep, limited a little dry. But hey, it didn’t spoil our evening!
Price The table was booked through LaFourchette.com and you had a discount of 50% on the bill with a minimum order: starter + main course or main course + dessert, wihtout drink. Otherwise it costs around 15 € for a starter, 25 € for the main course and 15 € for the dessert. With the offer I paid 22€ for a main course, a dessert and a glass of juice. It’s pretty decent but without the offer it is overpriced.
