For our anniversary dinner, it was very difficult to find a nice restaurant. We didn’t know, but many restaurants are only open from Tuesday to Saturday and on Sunday evening we were a bit limited in choices and we went to the Jardin de Diane, the restaurant of the Mercure hotel of Fontainebleau.
Le jardin de Diane – French food
Taste of the meal As a starter, I chose a tomato puree with chorizo and my man took the Caesar salad. The soup was very good but I was not able to finish, at 3/4 I was getting nauseated. In fact we were all surprised by quantities in the plates, which was quite promising for the following… or not. I was disappointed by the main course whose presentation was inadequate. The beef piece that I had was frankly not tender. The curry almond of my man was not bad but his plate was not really plentiful. For dessert we shared a chocolate Liege which was not bad at all.
Setting Throughout the restaurant, there were only 4 tables. At the end of the dinner, we were the only customers. It was quiet and good for us. The decor is rather refined if not chic.
Service The waiters were discreet but they were always there to get rid quickly and serve the following plates.
Price Given the quantity and quality of food, I’d say it was expensive. We paid more than 70 € for 2 drinks, 2 starters, 2 mains and 1 dessert. This is the equivalent of the Parisian prices in tourist areas…
