I continue my series of articles about my week-end at Amsterdam. Today I tell you about the extreme west of the city. With my Man, we traveled through the Jordaan district from north to south. But the area is rather large, we went in 2 times. Leaving our hotel, we went west and we passed close to this huge parking lot for bicycles and through some channels and enjoy the view. We met a few fish stands and even if initially the idea of tasting a specialized herring was interesting, I admit frankly that I finally gave up! Maybe next time …? In the northern area, there are plenty of small really nice shops in which I’d spend many hours if my time laps at Amsterdam was not so short!
If you continue to the south and zigzagging between the channels, you can see the great church so called Westerkerk which is close to the Anne Frank House. To visit this museum, the queue is so long that it hould be better to book tickets in advance. We gave up and continue to amble.
I confess, we lost ourselves and we continued our walk in Jordaan far beyond what we thought. We went so far that we left Amsterdam. There, we found some really charming residential areas. One of the things that marked me the most is the size of the doors : can be very narrow, often not very high …
