For summer 2013 vacation, I first went a week at the Canary island in family with my mother and sister. And early September, I went to the South of France with my man. Last week I already told you about the South, but then I did not go in the PACA region but in the Languedoc Roussillon.
For this week in the sun, we didn’t take a hotel, but we borrowed us an apartment located just a few kilometers from Sète, on the edge of the Etang de Thau, at Balaruc-les-Bains. The town is best known as a spa with many curist and many seniors. That has not stopped us especially as we wanted relaxing holidays. By taking it two months in advance, we had our first class train ticket for only 40 € / person / way! From Paris to Sete, it takes a little less than 4 hours. You can take a nap and with some reading the journey by train is fast!
At Balaruc-les-Bains, there is very little to visit but the walks in the parks and gardens are quite nice especially between 12h and 16h when it’s too hot to stay in the sun!
But the main activity for non-spa-user like us, it was the beach. Well, there is no access to the sea at Balaruc-les-Bains but there is the Etang de Thau. There is sand, salt water in which we see small fish and crustaceans splashing happily, little waves: what else ?
For the days with bad weather as our last day, you can also stroll along the water sources and we started by a visit to the Cure gourmande, a biscuit shop and factory.
Et la nuit tombée, pour digérer le dîner avant de se ruer sur les glaces et autres churros, rien de mieux qu’une balade au bord de l’étang sur la promenade des bains nouvellement aménagées.
