Essential site when you visit Rome: the trio of the Roman Forum, Palatine (2 sites are actually paired) and the Colosseum. As advised by the guide book, we started visiting the site not by the Colosseum but the Roman Forum, the entrance is less crowded. We didn’t have a pass and as we wanted to visit these 3 sites it was well done. About the price, it costs 12 € for two sites that can easily occupy you the whole day. But for those who have a tight budget, remember that you can get a glimpse of the Roman Forum without paying the entrance. Here are some pictures around.
I’m not going to detail what you can see or visite in the forum but see by yourself through these pictures. Anyway: many ruins. It is extraordinary that they had been able to keep all this after so many years but such a shame to see so little … The site dates the sixth century BC …

About restoration, be careful there are very few options to restore it in the area. We failed in a tourist trap with awful food and the service terrible. So I especially do not recommend that the restaurant Via Nicola Salvi.
The next article will be dedicated to the Coliseum.
